1. HANS ( VOTH )1 FOTH was born 1800 in Prussia, and died February 12, 1829 in Gnadenheim, Russia. He married MARIA FLAMING 1823 in prussia. She was born May 30, 1801 in Prussia, and died May 20, 1875 in Gnadenheim, Russia.

Notes for HANS ( VOTH ) FOTH: Hanz Voth was born in 1800 in Prussia. His wife Maria Flaming was born May 21, 1801 in the same area. In later years, when grown up the Lord so led that these two found loved one another. The were married in 1823. We believe that this was devine guidence for my great grandfather, Hanz Voth was a religious man and led a life of prayer. That was the testimony of his wife. my great grandmother. She told her son this before she died.

Within a year they had a baby an event they looked forward to with joy. And when it was a boy their joy was doubled. The young father said, "now we have someone to carry on our name in the world". They were also glad that the child was beautiful, slept well, was obedient and had a good appetite. They named him Heinrich, my grandfather.

In two years they had another son, whom they named Peter. He did not come to America. In August and September of 1828 the family moved from Prussia to Russia. They loaded their possessions in the wagon, but it was not full.

My grandfather told my father years later that he could remember just one thing from the trip and that was when they went downhill he could sit on the wagon. His mother sat on the wagon only when she breast fed the baby.

And so they came to Russia in August - September. In February 1828 great grandfather died, as a result of overstrain on the trip. On September 9, 1829 a daughter was born to the great grandmother, whom she named Katharina. She was the "Stamm-Mutter" to the Peter Harmes family in Goessel, Gnadenau, and Hillsboro, Kansas.

On October 21, 1829, Maria (Flaming) Voth married Heinrich Schultz, who was born January 28, 1799. When he came to Russia or wheather he was born there, and if he had brothers and sisters is not known. He was a big strong healthy man.

To their union were born 4 sons and 2 daughters. Their children are: Frank, born September 21, 1831 in Gnadenheim, Russia, married to Mrs Driedger in 1885. On March 9, 1856, at the age of 24 years and 5 months, he died after 6 months of marriage.

Jacob, born January 4, 1834 in Gnadenheim, Russia, married to Mrs Kroeker, who was born January 14, 1828. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.

Isaak, born December 7, 1836 in Gnadenheim, Russia married March 10, 1860 to Mrs Maria (Duerksen) Voth, who was born April 10, 1824. They had 1 son and 1 daughter.

Maria, born May 24, 1839, in Gnadenheim, Russia, married June 24, 1858 to Abraham Weiher, who was born March 10, 1910 in Prussia. They had 8 children. She died February 19, 1900 of cancer. Information about his death not available.

Sarah, born April 17, 1841, in Gnadenheim, Russia, married January 10, 1861 to Wilheim Harms, who was born October 7, 1839 in Gnadenheim, Russia. She died February 17, 1924 in Hillsboro, Kansas. He died February 23, 1915 in Hillsboro, Kansas.

Johann, was born March 6, 1846, died June 17, 1846. He was born and died in Gnadenheim, Russia.

Mother Maria Schultz died May 5, 1884 in Mountain Lake Minnesota. Father Isaak Schultz married again to Mrs John (Harder) Niessen on November 28, 1885. She was born in Friedensdorf, Russia and had 9 children. She died September 16, 1910 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

2. HEINRICH ( VOTH )2 FOTH (HANS ( VOTH )1) was born May 25, 1824 in Warnersdorf Prussia, and died August 27, 1887 in Bingham Lake Minnesota. He married (1) HELENA FAST December 10, 1844 in Gnadenheim, Russia. She was born July 12, 1823 in Parrau, South Russia, and died December 21, 1884 in Bingham Lake Minnesota. He married (2) KATHERINA THIESSEN WORMS February 21, 1886 in Henderson, Nebraska. She was born July 06, 1845 in Puchtin Russia, and died October 20, 1910 in Mountain Lake Mi.

Notes for HEINRICH ( VOTH ) FOTH: Heinrich was born in Prussia on May 25, 1824. When he was 4 years old his parents, Hans and ( Maria Flaming ) Voth, migrated to Russia in August and September, 1828. For traveling they had only a pony and small wagon where they put all their belongings and what they needed for traveling, and that was not much, as they were very poor.

Heinrich, the 4 year old son, said that when they went downhill he had a ride, otherwise he walked all the way. The mother only sat when she breast fed her baby.

In Russia they landed in the colony Libenau. Shortly after they moved to the colony Gnadenheim. Here the father, Hans Voth, a man of only 29 years, died in February, 1829, as a result of the hardship of the trip. In the same year , on September 9, 1829, the mother Maria (Flaming) Voth gave birth to a baby girl, who she named Katherina.

This was a very hard time for the mother, in a strange new country where her provider and husband had died, with 3 little children, left alone, so to speak. Here Maria the mother married Heinrich Schultz on October 21, 1829 who was born January 28, 1799. This seemed very understandable and relevant, as if it was predestinated, a leading from above.

Henrich Voth grew up and had his schooling in Gnademheim. He liked school very much, as he learned very easily and made great headway, to the delight of his parents. When he grew to manhood the Lord led him to a God-fearing lady, Helena Fast. She was from Parrau, where she was born on July 12, 1823. They were married December 10, 1844, in Gnadenheim.

Here 4 children were born to them: Helena, Maria, Heinrich who passed away, and then a seccond boy Heinrich. The family moved to Rueckenau where Anna and Peter were born. They both died at Rueckenau. They moved again, this time to Friedensdorf, where John S, Jacob, Katherine, Peter and Isaac were born. Here the Lord blessed them agriculturally and also economically; living was more satisfactory.

It was at this time that people were speaking of migrating, and that father Heinrich Voth wrote in his diary: "As time has changed so much we have decided to migrate to America, Minnesota, if it is the Lords will." The whole family was with this move, leaving Russia and landing in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on August 1, 1876.

This was a new world for them all but neverless they were very thankful to God that he had brought them thus far. After several days of looking and inspection, father Heinrich Voth baught a parcel of land some 9 miles northwest of Mountain Lake; they moved in with some construction to do, and always praising and thanking the Lord for bringing them so far. They stayed on this place until they both died.

It was on December 21, 1884 when the Lord took the mother out of the home and to himself. It was an intense blow for the whole family, especially for the father Heinrich Voth. He felt the lonesomeness the most. The Lord helped him so wonderfully and after some time he led father to Mrs Jacob Worms of Nebraska. They were married February 21, 1886. This wedlock lasted until August 27, 1887 when father Heinrich Voth went to glory, which was his longing and prayer.

Both Heinrich and Helena Voth died in Binghan Lake Minnesota and are buried in the Voth cemetery.

Notes for ISAAC J FOTH: Issak J VOTH, Changed to FOTH when he came to the USA. Issak J was the youngest child of Heinrich VOTH & Helena FAST. His birth place was in the village of Friedensruh S Russia, on December 28, 1867. Here he grew up and achived his education. As the youngest in the family, he most likely received the priority over his older brothers and sisters. When he was nine years his parents emigrated, after they had sold their possessions and packed what they absolutely needed. They went west, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and by that came to the northern hemisphere, landing in the state of Minnesota. They arrived in the town of Mountain Lake on August 1, 1876. When Heinrich and Helina VOTH made this move they were very fortunate in that their whole family came with them.

As it was not so early in the year they eagerly looked for a place where they could live for the winter, as they were told that the winters in America were very severe. They were all very grateful to God for his leading and protection on such a long journey with their whole family. They rejoiced and were indeed thankful to God for direction and answered prayers. They all prayed to God to help and bless them.

They found a suitable place and bought one 1/4 section of land about five and 1/2 miles from Binghan Lake, Minnesota and slightly east of a lake called Rat Lake. As there were some buildings there already they did some renovating and building and they all had a place for the cold winter. They gave God all the glory for such a wonderful leading.

When Isaak was 21 years old, God directed him to a God-fearing girl, Anna Worms, born in Pictin, Russa on June 7, 1868. Their wedding day was June 26, 1888 in Bingham Lake Mi. They acquired one quarter section of land about 3 1/2 miles southwest of the home place. They were so happy and greatful for that place, and as they were so very courageous and young, starting out on their own in a new country, they went diligently about their work, as if the future was their own. They acquired equiptment, horses, cattle and what was absolutely necessary.

And so they went on without much worry and seemingly doing well. But as the crops were failing and it seemed they would not be able to make it, he went to his elder brother for advice. They finally came to the resolution to sell everything, except the land, at an auction. Then they started again and made good.

They stayed on that farm until their children were on their own. The Lord blessed them and gave them 5 children: Isaac, Katherina ( she died as a young mother), Anna, Helen and Jacob. The parents retired to Mountain Lake Minnesota.
